Founded in the year 1987 by Dr. Shrikrishna G Nadgouda, who was inspired by his father in law Late Dr. Anant Huilgol, an eminent eye surgeon and a social worker in Karnataka, working along with Jayapriya Medical Foundation (A non-profit organization) to address the eye care needs of the rural and urban communities of backward districts in Northern Karnataka.

He holds an MBBS degree from AIMS, Bellur, and an MS in Ophthalmology from KIMS, Hubli. Dr. Katti is particularly renowned for his expertise in advanced cataract surgery and phacoemulsification techniques, including the use of premium intraocular lenses (IOLs) and topical phaco surgery. His commitment to excellence in the field led him to complete fellowships in phaco surgery at Laxmi Eye Institute, Panvel, and undergo specialized training in small incision cataract surgery (SICS) and camp organization at Globe Eye Hospital, Bangalore. Additionally, Dr. Katti further honed his skills with short-term training in ophthalmic diagnostics at the esteemed LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad.
