Founded in the year 1987 by Dr. Shrikrishna G Nadgouda, who was inspired by his father in law Late Dr. Anant Huilgol, an eminent eye surgeon and a social worker in Karnataka, working along with Jayapriya Medical Foundation (A non-profit organization) to address the eye care needs of the rural and urban communities of backward districts in Northern Karnataka.

Our pioneer - Jayapriya Eye Hopsital

PIONEER :
Dr. ANANT HUILGOL

Born in Gadag in October 1925, he was the 3rd son of Dr Venkatrao Huilgol. He pursued his MBBS & DOMS from Grant Medical College, Mumbai. He was the 1st Ophthalmologist in North Karnataka. He started the Karnataka Netra Rakshak Society & was the president of the same. Many people here benefitted through this organization. He was a philanthropist who conducted many free eye camps. He started the Citizen’s Forum & worked relentlessly for the welfare of the people.

Despite losing his parents at an early age, he pursued his education with remarkable determination, driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact. He has conducted numerous surgical camps and performed surgeries in Karwar, Dandeli, Gadag, and nearby areas, often with just one staff member by his side. His father, a freedom fighter and Ayurvedic doctor, was a source of inspiration and legacy.

Dr A V Huilgol was truly a visionary who has extensively served the community under his profession.
